The Dennis Project's legacy begins with a mother of five who traded her married life as a homemaker to move into Miami-Dade's James E. Scott housing projects to escape domestic abuse. The Dennis Project's legacy begins with a mother of five who traded her married life as a homemaker to move into Miami-Dade's James E. Scott housing projects to escape domestic abuse. She had no high school diploma, no career, and no money. Against the odds, she obtained a GED in night school and earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She became a FL certified teacher and purposefully taught in a Title 1 school in Miami-Dade’s inner city until she passed away in 1994.

Her name is Amelia Dennis, our founder’s grandmother. Ms. Dennis raised Auntaria to value education and service. TDP is built on the foundation that knowledge, enlightenment, and support help break cycles of poverty so we can pay it forward in service.
